The No. 1-ranked Georgia Gwinnett College men's tennis team scored an impressive 4-0 victory against No. 8 William Woods University (Missouri) in Friday afternoon's quarterfinal round of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's 2025 NAIA Indoor National Championship in Overland Park, Kansas.
The top-seeded Grizzlies (3-0) were strong across doubles and singles action in the opener against the tournament's No. 8 seed.
Senior
Jeremias Rocco served out a 6-3 victory at the top of the doubles lineup while playing alongside junior
Santiago Villarruel. Then, the senior tandem of
Andoni Garmendia and
Aleksandr Kalinin recorded a 6-2 triumph on the No. 2 court. Junior
Luis Francisco Sampedro and freshman
Kamron McIntosh-Ross rounded out the winners with a 6-3 victory in their spring debut at No. 3 doubles.
GGC won the opening set in all six singles matches on Friday to continue the team's strong play in the match.
Garmendia, ranked No. 21 nationally by the ITA, won all six games in the second set of his No. 5 singles match against Paulo Lopes Ferreira to complete a 6-3, 6-0 triumph. He improved to 3-0 for the season.

Villarruel, the NAIA's top-ranked singles player, gave the Grizzlies a 3-0 lead in the match by defeating Cole Horton by 6-1, 6-2 scores on the No. 3 court. Francisco Sampedro then captured the match with an impressive 6-2, 6-0 victory over Jesper Seger at No. 4 singles.
Georgia Gwinnett College faces No. 5-seed William Carey University (Mississippi) in the semifinal round on Saturday, February 1, starting at 12:30 p.m. The Crusaders knocked off No. 4-seed Middle Georgia State University 4-1 on Friday.
