The No. 9-ranked Georgia Gwinnett College softball team came up with several clutch hits to split a doubleheader at No. 17 College of Coastal Georgia with a 6-1 victory Tuesday afternoon in Brunswick, Georgia.
The Mariners (31-8) also scored a 6-1 triumph against the Grizzlies earlier in the day.
GGC (25-13) pushed two runs across in the top of the second inning to strike first in the nightcap. Junior
Kayla Good hit an RBI fielder's choice that brought home freshman
Sophie Sisk. Sophomore
Enna Lackey followed with a run-scoring single up the middle.
Coastal Georgia threatened by loading the bases in the fourth inning. However, junior
Annalise Jarvis got a fly out to left field to end the scoring threat.
The Mariners did get on the scoreboard one inning later on a sacrifice fly. Jarvis once again pitched out of the jam by getting an infield pop up to keep the Grizzlies in front 2-1.

The visitors responded by adding four runs in the top of the sixth inning. Good hit a run-scoring single up the middle before two wild pitches allowed two additional runs to score.
Sophomore
Summer Hickson hit an RBI single to left field to cap the productive frame.
Jarvis struck out seven batters in the complete-game victory, improving to 13-4 inside the circle this season.
Lackey paced the Grizzlies' 11-hit offensive attack by going 3-for-5 in the victory. Junior
Angelica Gallegos and Good each tallied two hits. Seven different players registered a hit for the visitors.
Coastal Georgia scored six runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to win the first contest. Bryce Peacock led off the frame with a home run. Alyssa Haggerty drove in two runs with a double to extend the lead to 5-0. Rori Rhodes capped the offense with an RBI ground out.
GGC got on the scoreboard in the top of the fifth inning as junior
Jane Hoover touched home following a passed ball.
Peacock picked up her 14th win of the season and struck out five batters in the outing.

"This was a good team performance on the road against a ranked opponent. It was good to see different contributors today. Kayla and Enna had good at-bats. It was important for us to have an answer in the sixth inning after they (Coastal Georgia) got within a run," said Head Coach
Kat Ihlenburg.
