Freshman
Morgan McQuagge delivered a clutch two-run single in the sixth inning and junior
Annalise Jarvis tossed a dominant shutout in the opener as the Georgia Gwinnett College softball team split a doubleheader against Thomas University (Georgia) on Saturday afternoon at the Grizzly Softball Complex.
The No. 9-ranked Grizzlies (24-12) won the day's first contest 2-0 before Thomas turned the tables with a 10-0 victory in five innings.
GGC closes out the regular season home slate with a 17-6 record on its own diamond.
McQuagge came up clutch with a two-out single up the middle that scored sophomore
Summer Hickson and junior
Haley Robinson in the bottom of the sixth inning for the lone runs in the opener.
That game featured an intense pitcher's duel between GGC's Jarvis and Thomas' Amber Griffin. Jarvis recorded 14 strikeouts in tossing a one-hit shutout. The right hander has now had 14 punch outs in four games this spring.

Jarvis struck out the side in the second and fourth innings and faced the minimum opposing hitters to improve her record to 12-4 on the season.
In the second contest, Averie Sheppard hit a three-run inside-the-park home run as part of a four-run second inning. Thomas (13-23) scored in four consecutive innings to earn the doubleheader split.
Sheppard went 3-for-4 while Kennedy Hardy and Hailie Stewart each tallied two hits for the visitors.
