The No. 1-ranked Georgia Gwinnett College women's tennis team swept its second straight nationally ranked opponent to close out the Grizzly Spring Break Invitational, defeating No. 17 Indiana Wesleyan University by a 7-0 score Friday afternoon at the GGC Tennis Facility.
The Grizzlies (11-0) quickly won the doubles point behind a pair of 6-1 triumphs on the No. 2 and No. 3 courts. The team of senior
Angel Carney and sophomore
Versace Gatti collected the first triumph at No. 3 doubles. Then, the junior tandem of
Justine Lespes and
Carol Mora clinched the point on the No. 2 court. Seniors
Stephanie Fernandez and
Iryna Lysykh rounded out the strong doubles play with a 6-3 victory at the top of the lineup.
The hosts won all six singles matches in straight sets.

Lysykh gave GGC a 2-0 dual match lead with a commanding 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles. Gatti picked up a 6-0, 6-2 triumph on the No. 4 court before senior
Teodora Jovic won by identical 6-1 set scores for the team's match-clinching fourth point.
Lespes remained undefeated on the spring season with an impressive 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 1 singles.
Fernandez recorded a 6-1, 6-1 win on the No. 6 court before Mora rounded out the winners with a 6-0, 6-3 triumph at No. 5 singles.
GGC won both of its Grizzly Spring Break Invitational matches, defeating No. 10 William Carey University (Mississippi) by a 5-0 score on Thursday. The team has won all six of its home matches in 2024.
Georgia Gwinnett College is scheduled to host McPherson College (Kansas) on Friday, March 15, at the GGC Tennis Facility, starting at 1 p.m.
