Softball Held Scoreless at Cumberlands Friday

The No. 3-ranked Georgia Gwinnett College softball team was held scoreless in losing a pair of games at the No. 9 University of the Cumberlands (Kentucky) by 8-0 and 4-0 scores Friday afternoon to conclude a three-game weekend series in Williamsburg, Kentucky.

The Patriots (17-4) got a no-hitter from Lindsey Shope in Friday's opener, while scoring three runs behind a pair of hits in the first inning.

Cumberlands' lead grew to 4-0 in the fourth inning following Aniyah White's RBI single. Four more runs were added in the fourth inning to seal the victory.

In the second game, the team tallied nine hits to score four runs while completing the three-game series sweep. A sacrifice fly from Jade Gainer gave Cumberlands a 2-0 lead in the third inning. The hosts then managed to get a pair of RBI doubles to score two additional runs in the sixth inning.

Senior Kloey Goins went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Grizzlies during the nightcap.
