The top-ranked Georgia Gwinnett College women's tennis team won 12 of the 13 doubles games to set the tone for an impressive 4-0 victory Thursday afternoon against No. 4 Southeastern University (Florida) on neutral courts in Macon, Georgia.
The Grizzlies (8-0) have now won 25 straight dual matches.
Juniors
Justine Lespes and
Carol Mora won all six games on the No. 2 doubles court just before the senior duo of
Stephanie Fernandez and
Iryna Lysykh was victorious 6-1 on the No. 1 court.
GGC is 19-0 in doubles matches this spring, with the Fernandez-Lysykh tandem leading the way with an 8-0 record.
The defending NAIA national champions quickly extended their lead to 2-0 when Lysykh's opponents on the No. 2 court retired after a first set in which the GGC player had won all six games.

Lespes, the NAIA's No. 1-ranked singles player, collected a strong victory on the No. 1 court against No. 11 Martina Picardi with a 6-0, 6-4 triumph. The GGC player broke Picardi's serve at 4-4 in the second set before closing out the match with a strong service game.
A few minutes later, Mora secured the dual match's fourth point with a 6-3, 6-3 triumph against Irene Lopez at No. 6 singles.
"We played very confidently in doubles and that created a strong performance. Justine and Carol are really coming together (at No. 2 doubles) and got us a quick doubles point. Then, it was good to see the things we've been working on in practice come together on the court in the singles matches," said Head Coach
Hannah Keeling.
Georgia Gwinnett College is scheduled to host NCAA Division III Emory University (Georgia) on Friday, February 23, at the GGC Tennis Facility, starting at 2 p.m.
