Women’s Soccer Suffers Road Setback

Sharon Madunga tallied the match-winning goal in the 64th minute as Lindsey Wilson College (Kentucky) picked up a 2-1 home victory against the No. 18-ranked Georgia Gwinnett College women's soccer team on Wednesday evening in Columbia, Kentucky.

The Grizzlies (7-5-1) squared the match, at 1-1, in the 43rd minute as sophomore Kayla Maguire drilled a shot from the top of 18-yard box into the back of the opposing net.

Lindsey Wilson (2-5-2) opened the scoring with a counter-attack goal in the 37th minute as Lara Rocha received a pass from Alina Siegel.

GGC sophomore Riko Yasuzawa struck the crossbar following a free kick just moments before the host's first goal. She recorded a match-high six shots as the Grizzlies held a slight 12-10 margin in the match.

In the second half, senior Aurora Miglio hit the opposing right goal post after a corner kick by Yasuzawa during the 68th minute.

"We have areas on both sides of the ball to address. This was a disappointing road trip. I still believe that this team will figure it out," said Head Coach Dr. Mike Giuliano.

Harvey kickLindsey Wilson took the lead for good near the midway point of the second half as Sharon Nadunga found the back of the net in the 64th minute after receiving a pass from Silvia Marchesi. GGC had multiple scoring opportunities throughout both halves.
