Athletic Communications Earns 15 Awards in 2022 NAIA-SIDA Publications & Media Contest

The athletic communications area of Georgia Gwinnett College's Office of Athletics earned 15 department honors, including six top-five place finishes, in the NAIA-Sports Information Directors of America Publications & Media Contest for the 2021-22 athletic year.

This year's contest awards came across seven different categories covering athletics video, writing, website, and graphics production among NAIA institutions. These works were produced by GGC's Director of Sports Information Dale Long, Video and Broadcast Coordinator Matt Mahony, and Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities Kyle Norton, who assists in special video and social media projects.

NAIA-SIDA Publications & Media Contest Results

Three videos featuring the GGC baseball team's performances in the 2021 NAIA national tournament were recognized in the Game Highlights category: Third place for the opening game at the 2021 Avista NAIA World Series; fourth place for the national championship victory, the program's first title; and seventh place for the Opening Round victory.

Another video recapping the three 2021 spring NAIA national championships placed eighth in the Publicity Video category.

Dale_longMeanwhile, stories recapping national titles for baseball and women's tennis earned fifth and eighth place, respectively, in the Dr. W. Jack Bell Writing Contest.

Social media motion Gifs earned fourth and sixth place honors while game programs earned fifth, sixth and seventh places.

GGCAthletics.com placed eighth in the website category.

Grizzly Digital Network announcers also were recognized for having two of the top-10 entrees in the Call of the Year category, led by a seventh-place honor for capturing the excitement of the softball team's walk-off victory against Bryan College (Tennessee) this past spring season.
