Gianmaria Fiore have been recognized as the Continental Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Players of the Week after contributing to two victories for the No. 8-ranked Georgia Gwinnett College team in last weekend's inaugural CAC Classic in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Strambu, the Offensive Player of the Week, scored two of the Grizzlies' four goals in wins against Viterbo University (Wisconsin) and Bellevue University (Nebraska).

The forward from Dacula, Georgia, headed in a crossing pass in the 41st minute for GGC's first goal in a 2-1 triumph against previously unbeaten Viterbo last Friday. The goal came three minutes after he entered the match off the team's bench. Later, he also emerged as a substitute to contribute to both goals in Sunday's 2-0 win against Bellevue.
First, Strambu dribbled on the counter attack before passing the ball to senior
Karim Tmimi for the team's first goal of the match, occurring in the 31st minute. Later, Stambu buried a shot in the 67th minute for an insurance goal.
Fiore, the Defensive Player of the Week, turned in a pair of strong outings as a center back for the Grizzlies. He won numerous headers and 50/50 balls to limit Bellevue to just three shots on goal in the shutout victory. The Napoli, Italy, native also was a key factor in starting the Grizzlies' counter attack for both of the team's goals.

Previously, Fiore helped GGC defeat previously undefeated Viterbo 2-1 in last Friday's opening day of the CAC Classic.
Georgia Gwinnett College (9-1-1) has won three straight matches. The Grizzlies are scheduled to face Shaw University (North Carolina) on Saturday, October 22, from Pineville, North Carolina, starting at 4 p.m.
