The No. 3-ranked Georgia Gwinnett College baseball team scored 15 runs through the first three innings in defeating Lindsey Wilson College (Ky.) 18-0 on Friday afternoon to begin a three-game series at the Grizzly Baseball Complex.
GGC scored eight runs in the third inning. The top three batters in the lineup combined for seven hits, eight runs scored and seven RBI.
The Grizzlies (2-2) also got a dominant starting pitching performance from senior
Gregory Loukinen. The left hander scattered two hits and struck out five batters to post his first victory of the season. He struck out the side of the Lindsey Wilson batting order in the top of the fourth inning.
Sophomore
Cam Coursey drove home four runs and went 2-for-3, with two triples, and scored three times. Senior
C.J. Ballard was 3-for-3 with three runs scored, and senior
Brody Wofford collected three RBI on two base hits and scored two runs in the victory.
The Grizzlies tallied 18 hits and registered six extra-base hits in the series opener.
Turning Point
The Grizzlies removed any suspense early in the contest. The first two batters of the game reached on base hits. Sophomore
Cam Coursey opened the scoring with a triple down the right field line. Then, GGC added five runs in the second inning and brought home eight more runs in the third inning.
