The Georgia Gwinnett College softball team scored six runs in the top of the eighth inning to complete a comeback that earned a split of a doubleheader Sunday afternoon at No. 17-ranked William Carey University (Miss).
The Grizzlies (12-2) trailed 7-6 going into the top of the seventh inning of the second game. That's when senior
Aubree Cox hit a single that brought home junior
Anya Vandersip with the tying run.
One inning later, junior
Sydney Willhite gave the visitors an 8-7 lead with a RBI single that scored junior
RaeQuinn Rossetti. Senior
Crystal Busbee added a run-scoring single before sophomore
Holly Janco had a bases-clearing double to cap the team's big offensive inning and win the game 13-7.
Cox went 4-for-4, with three runs scored, and drove in two runs in the nightcap.
William Carey scored two unearned runs in winning the opener 2-1.
