The No. 3-ranked Georgia Gwinnett College baseball scored 10 runs in an inning and spread 19 hits across a doubleheader in sweeping No. 10 University of Northwestern Ohio on Sunday afternoon at the Grizzly Baseball Complex.

The Grizzlies (9-3) used a 10-run sixth inning to win the opener 12-7. Then, the hosts scored in five of their six innings in winning the nightcap 14-3 in seven innings.

Sophomore Cam Coursey hit a grand slam home run in the sixth inning of the opener to give GGC a 10-5 lead. The Grizzlies trailed 5-2 when the sixth inning began. He went 5-for-7, brought home four runs and scored four runs in Sunday's action, improving his batting average to .625 for the season.

Sophomore Nick Barnes tallied three hits in the opener, while senior Brandon Frazier added two hits in the contest.

In the second contest, GGC scored four runs in the opening inning and had a 6-0 lead after two frames. The team proceeded to add another five runs in the third inning.

Benefitting from the offensive barrage were senior starting pitchers Gregory Loukinen and Jonathan McKinney. Each recorded eight strikeouts in their performances. Loukinen went eight innings in the first game to improve to 3-1 on the season, while McKinney allowed two runs over six innings to register his second win of the season.


 
Turning Point
The Grizzlies relied on a 10-run sixth inning to turn a 5-2 deficit into a 12-5 lead in the first game of the doubleheader. Sophomore Cam Coursey hit a grand slam to right field to give the hosts a 10-5 advantage. The home run, GGC's first hit of the inning, marked the eighth run of the frame. In total, the Grizzlies' 10 runs came on only three hits.
