Speeding Past the Racers

Strong pitching performances guided the No. 3-ranked Georgia Gwinnett College baseball team to its 10th win of the 2019 season with a 4-3 victory against No. 10 University of Northwestern Ohio on Monday afternoon at the Grizzly Baseball Complex.

Junior starting pitcher Hunter Dollander had eight strikeouts and scattered six hits across 7.1 innings to pick up the victory. The right hander did not allow a run after the third inning to improve to 4-0 on the season.

Freshman reliever Alec Kliphouse recorded the final five outs to secure the team's third straight victory over UNOH. The left hander leads the team with two saves.

Senior C.J. Ballard led the Grizzlies' offensive attack, scoring three of the team's four runs in the game. He scored the eventual game-winning run in the seventh inning on a sacrifice fly from sophomore Cam Coursey.

Senior Brody Wofford and Ballard each had two of GGC's nine hits in the victory.

Coach's Corner

"Hunter Dollander did a really good job on the mound today. He overcome a tough first inning. Credit goes to (UNOH) for challenging us all day. They are a really good team and we did just enough to beat them today," said Head Coach Brad Stromdahl.
