Frazier’s Perfect Day Ignites Offense

The No. 3-ranked Georgia Gwinnett College baseball team scored seven unanswered runs in defeating No. 18 Webber International University (Fla.) 10-3 in Friday's series opener at the Grizzly Baseball Complex.

The Grizzlies (5-3) scored three runs in the fifth inning and put the game out of reach with a four-run sixth inning. This all came after Webber International (3-6) scored three runs in the top of the fifth inning to grab a 3-2 lead.

Senior Brandon Frazier went a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate, with two RBI, while sophomore Cam Coursey had three base hits to drive in four runs in the victory.

Coursey gave the Grizzlies a 4-3 lead with a two-run triple in the fifth inning. Run-scoring hits by Frazier and senior Brenton Burgess in the sixth inning increased the team's lead.

Senior starting pitcher Gregory Loukinen struck out a season-high 10 batters across six innings to improve to 2-1 on the season. Junior Hunter Caudelle tossed three scoreless innings in relief to pick up the save.

The two teams will conclude the three-game series with a doubleheader on Saturday, Feb. 16, starting at 1 p.m.

Coach's Corner
"This was good response from Wednesday's loss to Tennessee Wesleyan. We had a really good approach to start the game and stuck with it throughout the day. Greg (Loukinen) put up zeros early in the game. Overall, I was very pleased with how we responded and hope we continue that tomorrow," said Head Coach Brad Stromdahl.

Turning Point
GGC's offense answered immediately after visiting Webber International took a 3-2 lead in the top of the fifth inning. In the bottom of the frame, a two-run triple by sophomore Cam Coursey gave the home team the lead for good. The Grizzlies added four more runs in the next inning.
