Midweek Home Setback

Unbeaten and No. 12-ranked Tennessee Wesleyan University collected 10 hits in defeating No. 3 Georgia Gwinnett College 8-3 in baseball action on Wednesday afternoon at the Grizzly Baseball Complex.

Tennessee Wesleyan (11-0) scored runs in six of the nine innings. The Bulldogs built a 7-0 lead in the seventh inning after scoring two runs in the second and third innings. They pushed across a run in the fourth, sixth, seventh and ninth frames.

It took GGC (4-3) until the seventh inning to get on the scoreboard, with a two-run double from senior Brenton Burgess. One inning later, freshman Ali LaPread hit a run-scoring single.

TWU outhit the Grizzlies 10-to-5 in the game.
 
Turning Point
Tennessee Wesleyan grabbed early momentum of the game with a two-run home run by Adrian Marquez in the top of the second inning. The Bulldogs would later add two more runs in the third inning and another single tally in the fourth inning to build a 5-0 lead.
