Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

An Overtime Thriller

The Georgia Gwinnett College men's soccer team made the most of its only shot in overtime, with a goal by freshman Omar Thali in the final seconds of the first overtime period providing the edge in a thrilling 4-3 victory Saturday night at No. 6-ranked Lindsey Wilson College (Ky.).

The Grizzlies (3-2-1), ranked No. 18 in the NAIA Top 25 poll, trailed 3-2 with five minutes left in regulation play. Then, senior Herb Sevilla drilled a shot into the opposing net in the 85th minute for the game-tying goal. His tally came less than a minute after the Blue Raiders scored their third goal.

GGC had a 2-1 lead at halftime after first-half goals by sophomores Toni Tiente and Michael Weber. Tiente's fourth goal of the season came in the 41st minute, after Weber found the back of the net in the 22nd minute to square the match, 1-1.

Lindsey Wilson (3-1-1) got second-half goals from David Ibrahimkadic and Andrew Revanales to grab the lead.

Coach's Corner
"That was an unbelievable college soccer match between two really good college soccer teams. Herb's goal was a key element. The way we fought back to score the late goal is something to be very proud. Omar did a good job at getting free and he showed his ability as a tremendous finisher," said Head Coach Steve DeCou.

Turning Point
After falling behind 3-2 in the 84th minute, the momentum swung back in GGC's favor as senior Herb Sevilla drilled a shot into the net less than a minute later to square the match. The Grizzlies forced the overtime period and then picked up a key road victory with a last second goal in extra time.
