Box Score 1 |
Box Score 2 The top-ranked Georgia Gwinnett College softball team picked up a pair of 8-0 triumphs in five innings Thursday afternoon over Brewton-Parker College (Ga.), extending the team's current winning streak to 12 games.
GGC (31-2) is 20-0 at the Grizzly Softball Complex this spring.
The Grizzlies scored a run in each of the first three innings in the opener, highlighted by a five-run third inning. That was plenty of support for junior starting pitcher Taylor Hansis, who tossed a one-hit shutout with six strikeouts.
Then, the hosts collected 12 hits and used a four-run fourth inning to pave the way for the second-game victory. Sophomore Sydney Willhite opened things with a two-run home run in the first inning.
Freshman Holly Janco went 2-for-2 with three runs scored and three RBI across the two games. Senior Niki Cook added a pair of multiple-hit efforts. Junior Brianna Fickes and Willhite had two hits in the second game.
Sophomore Alexis Eisenberg tossed four shutout innings in the pitching circle to improve to 3-1 on the season. Sophomore reliever Jordin Englar retired all three batters she faced in the fifth inning of the second game.
