Men’s Soccer Coaching Staff Named Region's NAIA Staff of the Year

Head Coach Steve DeCou has been the only coach in GGC's seven-year history
After another successful season, the Georgia Gwinnett College men's soccer coaching staff has been recognized as the east region's Staff of the Year for NAIA institutions by the United Soccer Coaches College Services program.

This honor came from a vote among USCCS-member coaches throughout the region and now makes the GGC staff eligible for the National Staff of the Year, which will be announced Dec. 14.

The Grizzlies, led by Head Coach Steve DeCou, went 12-6-1, won the Association of Independent Institutions title and reached the Round of 16 in the NAIA national tournament.

Joining DeCou on the GGC staff are assistant coaches Stephen Magennis, Jorge Vallejo and Diego Casillas.

DeCou is the only coach in GGC's seven-year history and has guided the program to five NAIA national tournament appearances, four A.I.I. titles and a quarterfinal finish in the 2017 national tournament. He also was named the Region Coach of the Year following the 2013 and 2014 seasons by the soccer coaches association.
