Helping the Georgia Gwinnett College men's soccer team post consecutive shutouts has led senior goalkeeper Dagoberto Romero to collect the Continental Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week award.
The Lawrenceville, Georgia, native made two saves in GGC's 1-0 victory against No. 11-ranked Lindsey Wilson University (Kentucky) last Wednesday. Romero then stopped the only shot on goal in 87:41 of action in last Saturday's regular-season finale against Spartanburg Methodist College (South Carolina). Both matches were played at the Grizzly Soccer Complex.
The senior has helped the Grizzlies win a season-best five straight matches – all by shutout.
On the season, Romero has a 0.86 goals against average and 34 saves across 13 matches.
Georgia Gwinnett College (10-4-1) is scheduled to host the Summit pod of the CAC Men's Soccer Championship tournament from November 8-10 at the Grizzly Soccer Complex.
