Box Score Top-seeded Oklahoma Wesleyan University earned a spot in the NAIA semifinals with a 3-0 victory over No. 8-seeded Georgia Gwinnett College Wednesday afternoon from the Seacrest Soccer Complex.
The Grizzlies reached the NAIA national championship tournament for the first time in program history, and concluded the season with a 13-4-2 record.
Oklahoma Wesleyan (22-1-1) got on the scoreboard in the 31st minute on a goal by Aleksandar Simovic. Then, the Eagles added two more goals in the second half.
GGC registered seven of its 11 shots during the second 45 minutes of action in the match.
Turning Point
Both teams had a couple of scoring opportunities in the first half, but Oklahoma Wesleyan capitalized on a shot in the 31st minute to grab the early lead. The shot found the upper right hand corner of the goal after being shot 18 yards away from the goal.
