Offense Shines For No. 20 Women's Soccer in Win at Albany State

The Georgia Gwinnett College women's soccer team scored six unanswered goals in closing out the 2017 regular season with a 6-1 victory at NCAA Division II Albany State University Wednesday afternoon.

The No. 20 Grizzlies (13-3-1) go into postseason play on an 11-match winning streak and are unbeaten in their last 14 matches.

Junior Caitlin Berry led the offensive attack with two goals and an assist.

Classmate Ana Gonzalez added a goal and an assist. Juniors Stina Andersson, Kimmy Angelone and Nicole Rodriguez rounded out the goal scorers in the team's 23-shot performance.

Albany State got on the scoreboard in the 11th minute. However, GGC answered midway through the first half on a goal from Andersson. Berry found the back of the net for the eventual game-winning tally in the 28th minute. She added her second goal of the match in the 55th minute.

Turning Point

After the Rams got on the scoreboard, the visiting Grizzlies turned up the offensive pressure to score six unanswered goals. Juniors Stina Andersson and Caitlin Berry scored 74 seconds apart to give GGC the lead. The team would score three times within a nine-minute span in the second half to secure the victory.
