Grizzlies Draw with No. 15 Bryan (Tenn.)

Box Score

On Tuesday evening, the Georgia Gwinnett men's soccer team posted its second tie of the 2016 season, notching a scoreless draw against No. 15 Bryan (Tenn.) after 110 minutes of play.

The Grizzlies (3-3-2) battled through a fiercely-contested and physical match that witnessed seven yellow cards between both squads to earn the 0-0 draw.

"I'm proud of the effort that our guys showed tonight," stated GGC head coach Steve DeCou.  "Their play showed true grit and perseverance.  We would have loved to have won tonight's match, but a draw against the 15th ranked team in the country is a decent result and shows that we're progressing in an upward trend."

Georgia Gwinnett played a man down for the final 43 minutes of the contest that saw two, 10-minute overtime periods after 90 minutes of regulation play.

In the first half, senior goalkeeper Lewis Sharpe made three key saves to keep the match scoreless.  While Sharpe tallied eight total saves in the match, none was more important than in the 67th minute when he made a point-blank save on a shot by Bryan's Joe Goreham, keeping the match scoreless in regulation.

The Grizzlies' best opportunity to win the match came in the first overtime period when Jon Conner's shot was tipped by Bryan's goalkeeper, Alex Horton, in the 97th minute.

In total, the Grizzlies made 11 shots on the evening, landing six on frame.

Georgia Gwinnett is back in action on Saturday when the Grizzlies travel to Pulaski, Tenn., to face Martin Methodist.  First touch from the East Campus Athletics Facility is set for 2:00 p.m. Eastern.
