Box Score

GAINESVILLE, Ga. - Georgia Barton netted her first career goal and Andreah Creevey added another, but Brenau's Jenny Knibbs recorded a hat trick as the Georgia Gwinnett women's soccer team fell 4-2 to the 19th-ranked Tigers.

Barton, a freshman out of Columbus, converted off a feed from Tiffany Rodriguez less than nine minutes into the match to give the Grizzlies (4-5) the early advantage. GGC would continue to put chances together, out-shooting the hosts 6-3 in the opening stanza and holding a 3-0 advantage in corners.

It appeared to be the same story in the early part of the second half as Creevey picked up her fourth goal of the season just seven minutes from the break, but the 2-0 lead was short lived as Brenau's Vanessa Alexander answered with a goal of her own four minutes later.

From there, Knibbs took over, equalizing in the 62nd minute and then putting the Tigers ahead in the 68th. She would put it out of reach for the Grizzlies with her third and final strike of the night in the 82nd.

Magaly Gutierrez got the nod in goal for the full 90 minutes for GGC, making five saves, including four in the second half as the Tigers rebounded from the first to outshoot the Green and Gray 9-3.

The Grizzlies will return to action on Tuesday with a trip to Bob Jones. Kickoff is slated for 5 p.m.
