Cassidy Littlefield’s eight combined hits keyed a potent GGC attack as the Georgia Gwinnett softball team put together 10-2 and 15-8 victories at Montreat (N.C.) on Friday afternoon.
The Grizzlies improved to 26-6-1 on the season, taking three of four games from the Cavaliers (15-25) on the year.
GGC set a new season high with 23 hits in game two alone and with the wins posted a new program-best seven-game winning streak.
Game One- GGC 10, Montreat 2 (6 Innings)
The Grizzlies needed just six innings to claim the win in the opener, using a five-run second inning to surge in front and not allowing the Cavaliers on the board until the fifth.
Littlefield homered, doubled and singled in going 3-for-4 with three runs scored.
Mary Burk and Marlee Morales each scored two runs for GGC, with Halley Ingram adding a pair of hits.
Littlefield now has 19 hits over her last seven games, with homers in four of those contests.
Game Two- GGC 15, Montreat 8
Littlefield had four singles and a double to lead the 23-hit attack.
The Grizzlies built a 9-5 lead by the fourth inning and after Montreat cut it to 9-8, GGC tacked on six runs in their final at-bat to pull away for the win.
Heaven Hinton homered, scored twice and had three hits. Morales and Kilar had three hits each while Kilar scored three times in the game.
The Grizzlies added to their lead with five straight hits- including Hinton’s third homer of the year- to begin the seventh inning.
Hinton, Alycia Fields and Haley Thompson all scored a pair of runs.
The two teams had split a doubleheader March 28 in Lawrenceville. GGC returns to action on Sunday at home when it hosts Milligan (Tenn.) for a 1 p.m. pair.
