Game One- GGC 3, BSC 2
Haley Thompson delivered an RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning to give GGC the walk-off win in game one.
Starter Ashley Beyke notched her 10th complete game of the year, pitching around a handful of Panther threats over the course of the game. The sophomore improved to 11-5 on the year by striking out two and allowing just one earned run over 8.0 innings.
Heaven Hinton tallied an RBI double to open the scoring in the first inning but the Grizzlies found themselves trailing 2-1 entering their final at-bat in the pitcher’s duel between Beyke and Taylor Harkins.
In the bottom of the seventh, GGC strung together a pair of one-out infield singles and put runners on second and third after a passed ball. Hinton then looped one into shallow center that fell between the Panther defense to score Cassidy Littlefield and tie the game, 2-2.
Beyke stranded a runner at third base in the Panthers’ first extra-inning at-bat to send GGC up to the plate with the game still tied.
With Heather Kilar on second base to start the bottom of the inning, Thompson ripped a single up the middle to drive in the winning score of a 3-2 win.
Littlefield finished with three of the Grizzlies’ nine hits.
