The Georgia Gwinnett softball team improved to 14-3 on the season with a doubleheader sweep of Columbia College (S.C.) on the road Wednesday, winning by 8-3 and 8-1 scores.
The Grizzlies dropped the Fighting Koalas, with whom they split a home doubleheader last week, to 15-7 on the year.
Georgia Gwinnett tied last year’s six-game winning streak and has won 11 of its last 12 games. The team also improved to 7-0 away from home, winning the first two of their six road games this week.
The team now treks to the William Carey University for the highly-anticipated WCU Invitational in Hattiesburg, Miss., Friday and Saturday.
The Grizzlies will battle NAIA No. 2 Spring Hill (Ala.) (12-3), No. 21 William Carey (13-1), Mobile (receiving votes, 8-6), and the program’s first-ever NCAA Division I opponent in Alcorn State (2-8).
Play opens for GGC against host William Carey Friday at 9:30 a.m. CT in Hattiesburg, then the Grizzlies take on Mobile at 1:30 p.m. CT.
Saturday, the Grizzlies battle Spring Hill at 11:30 a.m. CT and face Alcorn State at 3:30 p.m. ET.
All of GGC’s games at the WCU Invitational will be streamed live on the Grizzly Digital Network, beginning 15 minutes prior to each first pitch.
