GGC 9, Morehouse 0
The fourth-ranked Georgia Gwinnett men’s tennis team eased past Division II Morehouse College on Wednesday in Lawrenceville, taking five of six singles matches by a perfect 6-0, 6-0 score en route to a 9-0 victory.
The win pushed GGC to 7-0 on the season and dropped Morehouse to 2-4 as GGC returned home for the first time in six matches.
The tightest match of the contest proved to be an 8-6 win at first doubles by Tony Kostadinov and Evgeny Silitski.
“Our guys took care of business quickly today,” said GGC head coach Chase Hodges. “We have a nice little break from competition now but we will work hard in practice to get better.”
The other two doubles points went to the Grizzlies in 8-1 fashion as GGC posted an early 3-0 lead.
Bruno Tiberti notched a 6-1, 6-0 win at first singles for GGC and the remaining five singles matches all were won by shutout as the Grizzlies improved to 2-0 at home.
Hodges’ squad is off from competition until a March 8 matchup with Division III No. 5 Kenyon (Ohio) in Lawrenceville.
