LAWRENCEVILLE - After nearly a month away from Grizzly Soccer Complex, the Georgia Gwinnett men's soccer team had contributions from all over the team as it rolled out to an impressive 8-0 rout of visiting Toccoa Falls on Tuesday evening.

The Grizzlies, who were moved up to No. 12 in the national rankings just minutes prior to kickoff on Tuesday, out-shot the visitors by an eye-popping 48-0 margin to improve to 9-2-2 on the season. The 48 attempts is a new school record, and the win represents the largest since the conclusion of the 2012 season.

"We were hoping we would able to get the offense going coming into this match," GGC Head Coach Steve DeCou said. "This was exactly what we needed tonight, and hopefully this will help jump-start things for next week's A.I.I. Tournament."

It was a quick start for the Green and Gray as James Toombs continued his scoring form in recent weeks, finishing off a German Rodriguez feed for the opening salvo in the fourth minute. It wasn't long before Ibrahima Sissoko joined Toombs on the scoresheet as the junior out of Norcross found the back of the net just 12 minutes later. Samuel Sampaio Gomes notched the final goal of the first half, finishing off a cross from Alex Blekkink to make it 3-0 after 32 minutes.

The goals were the first for Sissoko and Gomes since Sept. 13 and 16, respectively.

The second half started nearly as quickly as the first as Blekkink found Rodriguez in the 50th to make in 4-0, and then Toombs picked up his second tally of the game after an exceptional through ball by Rodriguez.

Toombs, who played his first match of the season on Oct. 8, has now scored in four goals in four appearances this season.

"James has just brought it to a different level," DeCou said. "He's been really good for us the past couple of weeks, and this is part of the reason we brought him here. We know he can bang goals in there, but it just took a while to get going. He's now shown what he's capable of doing."

After notching the first two assists of his career, Blekkink picked up his first career goal in the 65th off a feed from Jamie King, and then King brought an end to his own scoring drought with one of his own five minutes later. The sophomore out of Milton Keynes, England, is GGC's leading scorer this season with seven goals, but Tuesday's marked his first since Sept. 21.

Andrew Smith closed out the offensive assault just a minute from the whistle, dribbling past a number of defenders to register his first career score.

GGC will return to action this weekend with a match against Bob Jones as a part of the school's first-ever homecoming. The game is scheduled for 1 p.m. with a senior day presentation slated for prior to kickoff, and homecoming festivities following the match. The game is also part of a doubleheader as the Grizzly women will take on Middle Georgia at 4 p.m.
