Sophomore Mary Vernetti racked up a goal and two assists to lead the Georgia Gwinnet women’s soccer team to a 5-0 victory over the University of the Cumberlands on Friday afternoon in Williamsburg, Ky.
The Grizzlies improved to 5-2-1 with their third shutout win of the season, dropping the Patriots to 0-5.
Freshman Nikki LeFevre added a goal and an assist for GGC while Bethany Johnson tallied her third goal of the season. Vernetti and Mackenzie Bailey each notched their second goals of the year and Andreah Creevey added her first.
The Grizzlies held the Patriots to just two shots on goal and totaled a 15-5 overall shot advantage.
Georgia Gwinnett is now 2-1-1 away from home this season and has allowed two or fewer goals in seven of its eight games overall.
The Grizzlies continue their road trip by visiting Tennessee Temple University on Saturday in Chattanooga. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m., weather permitting.
