The Georgia Gwinnett softball team got its bats going on the second day of the Gulf Coast Invitational but dropped two close decisions on Saturday in Gulf Shores, Ala.
In the opener, GGC fell to a streaking Faulkner University (Ala.) squad, 6-3. In game two, the Grizzlies were tripped by St. Thomas University (Fla.) by a 5-3 margin.
The Grizzlies (3-13) faced the Eagles (11-1) on the third separate occasion this year and GGC's 4-1 victory on Feb. 9 accounts for Faulkner's only loss this season. Meanwhile, the Bobcats moved to 8-5 with their first win of the Invitational.
"We continue to build and have production in many parts of our lineup," Grizzlies head coach Kat Ihlenburg said Saturday. "We are playing some tough competition that will make us stronger as we grow."
The Grizzlies were led by Marlee Morales' 3-for-3 effort with two RBIs and a stolen base in game one.
Sunday afternoon, GGC rounds out the Invitational with a single game against Houston-Victoria.
