Box Score
The Grizzlies' bats went cold on the opening day of the Gulf Coast Invitational in Gulf Shores, Ala., as the Georgia Gwinnett softball team dropped 4-0 and 9-0 decisions Friday.
Game One- Belhaven 4, GGC 0
In a 9 a.m. local start, the Grizzlies (3-11) managed just two hits in a 4-0 loss to Belhaven University (Miss.). Ashley Beyke tossed 3.2 innings of scoreless relief but four Blazers runs over the first four innings proved too much for GGC to match.
Halley Ingram and Brittany Bruns had hits for the Grizzlies as Belhaven used a strong start from pitcher Katy Adair to win its sixth straight game.
Game Two- #19 Mobile 9, GGC 0
The Grizzlies' offensive struggles continued in the second game as Heather Kilar's pair of hits accounted for the only GGC offense.
Alli Hall tossed a complete-game shutout for Invitational host University of Mobile (9-3), an eight-time national champion that enters 2013 at No. 19 in the country.
Jordyn Fones drew three walks for the Grizzlies. Mobile connected for six earned runs off Beyke.
The Grizzlies look to get back in the win column with a pair of games Saturday. GGC takes on Faulkner (Ala.) at 10 a.m. ET before St. Thomas (Fla.) at 4 p.m. ET.
