Ryan McDaniel joined the Georgia Gwinnett College men's basketball coaching staff as an assistant coach in March 2025 prior to the program's inaugural season.
McDaniel comes to GGC after spending the past two seasons as an assistant coach with Faulkner University (Alabama), helping the Eagles advance to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) national tournament during the 2024-25 season. He also was a graduate assistant with Bethel University (Indiana) as the Pilots qualified for 2023 NAIA postseason play and won the 2023 National Christian Collegiate Athletic Association national championship.
McDaniel played at the University of Alabama in Huntsville from 2018-21.
Besides coaching, McDaniel served as director for Faulkner’s Battle at the Beach Tournament and has been a data collector for Noah Basketball’s shooting development system, used by professional players since 2019 to improve their playing skills.
At Faulkner, Sanderson allowed McDaniel to assist in the development of the program’s practice plans and then executing those plans to help the team and its players improve throughout the season.
Previously, McDaniel was Bethel’s recruiting coordinator for the program’s developmental squad, while also managing and scheduling games and coordinating team travel.
McDaniel earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting at UAH and added a master’s degree in business administration at Bethel.
