Artemiy Nikitin enters his second season as a Volunteer Assistant Coach with the Georgia Gwinnett women’s tennis team.

In 2016, Nikitin was an instrumental contributor to the GGC women’s tennis coaching staff that helped the squad capture its second NAIA National title with a 5-4, come-from-behind victory over Lindsey Wilson (Ky.).  He also assisted the Grizzlies in the 2015 season when GGC finished as the NAIA National Championship runner-up.

A native of Omsk, Russia, Nikitin carries a wealth of coaching and playing experience to the Grizzly Staff. In 2014-15, Nikitin served as the student-assistant coach at the University of Idaho.

Nikitin earned his bachelor’s degree in General Business from Idaho in 2014.  Prior to Idaho, Nikitin spent three years at South Carolina State University where he was a tennis standout for three seasons.

At SCSU, Nikitin was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference’s Rookie of the Year and Newcomer of the Year (2011).  He was named the Most Valuable Player in 2013 where he went a perfect 24-0 on the season.   Nikitin received First Team All-MEAC honors on three occasions (2011, 2012, 2013) and was a three-time MEAC champion (2011, 2012, 2013).

Nikitin concluded his collegiate tennis career at Idaho as Western Athletic Conference champion (2014) and was ranked as high as No. 20 in  NCAA Division I’s Mountain region in singles play.  Nikitin concluded his playing career ranked No. 86 in the NCAA in singles play.
