National champion and award-winning coach Jeremy Sheetinger has guided the Georgia Gwinnett College baseball program to incredible heights in his four seasons in the dugout.
Sheetinger guided the Grizzlies to the 2021 NAIA World Series title, marking the program's first national championship. He was named the Skip Bertman National Coach of the Year from the Collegiate Baseball Foundation. He is the first NAIA coach to earn the prestigious award since it was founded in 2013.

During the 2021 national championship team the Grizzlies led the NAIA in five offensive categories: Doubles (174), runs scored per game (11.0), hits (737), runs scored (671) and stolen bases (208). Griffin Keller led the nation with 107 hits and 89 runs scored. Keller was a first NAIA All-America team selection, while Livingston Morris garnered second-team All-American accolades in 2021. Hunter Dollander and Gabe Howell earned honorable mention All-America team honors.
Georgia Gwinnett College won all five of its Avista World Series games, defeating the No. 1 seed, No. 2 seed twice, No. 4 seed and No. 6 seed. The team defeated Central Methodist (Missouri) 8-4 for the championship in 2021.
The Grizzlies set 11 school records and led the NAIA in 11 offensive statistical categories during the 2024 season. GGC had the nation's top-ranked offense for the third time in last four seasons. The team established new program records in the following: Home Runs (102), Runs Scored (811), Batting Average (.381), Hits (759), Total Bases (1,301), Stolen Bases (315), Slugging Percentage (.662), On-Base Percentage (.501), and Walks (402).
GGC advanced to the Avista NAIA World Series for the fifth time under Sheetinger in 2025 and were ranked No. 2 in the NAIA. The Grizzlies compiled a 56-7 record record and reached the semifinal round at the World Series for the second straight season.
Sheetinger guided Blaze O'Saben to the NAIA Baseball National Player of the Year award in 2024 after being the first player in collegiate baseball history to hit at least 10 doubles, triples, home runs and steal 50 bases in the same season. O'Saben became the second straight Grizzly to garner the national award. The Grizzlies compiled a 53-9 record and were ranked No. 2 in the NAIA Top 25 poll.
Sheetinger mentored Ajay Sczepkowski during a historic 2023 season in which saw the outfielder become the first NAIA player in history to record a season with over 30 home runs and 30 stolen bases. Sczepkowski set a single-season school record with 33 home runs en route to becoming the second player in program history to be named the NAIA National Player of the Year.
The Grizzlies won 50 games for the second time under Sheetinger's guidance in the dugout in 2023. The team captured the Lawrenceville Bracket of the NAIA Opening Round behind a complete-game pitching performance from Ben Harris in a winner-take-all contest against Freed-Hardeman University (Tennessee).
The 2023 team led the NAIA in eight offensive categories: Batting average (.380), runs scored (689), runs scored per game (11.9), doubles (157), RBI (593), on-base percentage (.477), OPS (1.107), and stolen bases (258).
Under Sheetinger the Grizzlies have led the country in total offense two of the last three seasons and tops in the NAIA in stolen bases each of the last three years.
During the 2022 season the Grizzlies returned to the NAIA World Series by winning the Lawrenceville Bracket of the NAIA Opening Round. GGC defeated Hope International (California) 13-1 in the championship game for the program's firth trip to the World Series in Lewiston, Idaho. He collected his 200th career coaching victory with a 10-0 victory against Iowa Wesleyan at the inaugural Continental Athletic Conference tournament. The Grizzlies swept through the CAC tournament, defeating Fisher (Massachusetts) 5-2 in the championship game. Austin Bates and Rob Hamby received the CAC Player and Pitcher of the Year awards and were named honorable mention All-Americans by the NAIA. GGC concluded the 2022 campaign ranked No. 8 in the nation and won 46 games.
In his first season the Grizzlies won 22 consecutive games and finished the campaign ranked No. 3 in the NAIA. Ten players received Association of Independent Institutions all-conference recognition. Sheetinger collected his first win at GGC with a road triumph against No. 4-ranked Southeastern (Florida).
The team's 22 straight victories to end the season is the second longest winning streak in program history. GGC concluded the 2020 season with a 23-2 record.
Senior pitcher Hunter Peck posted a 5-0 record and did not allow an earned run in 38 innings. Freshman reliever Alex Cook recorded nine saves, ranking second in program history.
Besides his coaching stint with GGC, Sheetinger has been on USA Baseball task force. During the summer of 2023 he headed to trials for Team USA U18 National team, serving as the baserunning coordinator. In 2021 he was assisted on a task force and also headed to trials for Team USA U15 National team.
He assisted Great Britain U23 baseball qualify for the 2023 World Baseball Softball Confederation's World Cup at the European Championships in Vienna, Austria.
Sheetinger was named the manager of the Chatham Anglers of the prestigious Cape Cod League beginning in the summer of 2024.
Sheetinger has served as the college division liaison for the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) from 2016-19. He was responsible for organization communications and relationship building within coaches and administrators at NCAA Division II and III, NAIA and junior college levels. He helped facilitate a 200-percent growth rate in ABCA membership and attendance records for three of the organization’s annual conventions.
He served as an associate scout for the Atlanta Braves from 2015-19.
As a coach, Sheetinger spent three seasons as head coach at Spalding University in Louisville, Kentucky, posting an 86-43 record, including a school-record 33 victories at the NCAA Division III level in the 2013 season, and three conference postseason tournament appearances. The Eagles had top 10 statistical rankings in numerous offensive and defensive categories among Division III teams.
Sheetinger’s coaching experiences also include being director of baseball operations at NCAA Division I University of Kentucky for three seasons, the lead assistant coach at NCAA Division II St. Joseph’s College (Indiana) for two seasons, and assistant coach with NAIA programs at Brescia University (Kentucky) and Georgetown College (Kentucky).
He received a bachelor of science degree in fitness and sport management from Kentucky Wesleyan College in 2004. Sheetinger also earned a master of business management from Brescia University in 2007 and a master of kinesiology and health promotion at the University of Kentucky in 2009.
Sheetinger and his wife, Chelsea, have a son, Cooper, and daughter, Charlee.
