Grizzlies Power Past Fisher to Win 2026 CAC Baseball Title

Georgia Gwinnett College hit five home runs to power past Fisher College (Massachusetts) 30-0 in the championship game of the 2025 Continental Athletic Conference Baseball Championship Tournament on Sunday afternoon at the Grizzly Baseball Complex.

GGC (49-4, ranked second nationally) has now won six straight CAC championships and nine overall league titles in the program's 13 seasons of existence. The team, winners of 14 straight games, now prepares to host the Lawrenceville Bracket of the NAIA's Opening Round tournament, the first stage of the national tournament, from May 12-15.

Seniors Matthew Lee and Scott Seeker each connected on a pair of round trippers to lead the Grizzlies' 26-hit offensive attack.

That productivity boosted the tournament hosts to a 12-0 lead through the first two innings. Lee smashed a grand slam to spark a five-run opening frame. Three pitches were placed over the outfield fences an inning later with Lee and junior Tyler M. Martin hitting back-to-back solo homers. Seeker had connected on a two-run home run earlier in the inning.

Seeker was done yet. The designated hitter added a grand slam during the eighth inning to tie the program's single-game RBI record, driving in nine runs in the triumph. The designated hitter went 4-for-6 at the plate and scored two runs.

"The only other day that could compare to this offensive performance was hitting for the cycle and having eight RBI (March 22 vs. Tennessee Southern). It's super special to win a championship with your brother (Sam, a right fielder who went 2-for-3 in the game). We've been apart for so long that being back together this year has made us so much closer," said Seeker.

Lee entered Sunday with just one home run for the season. That total of now three after the catcher hit a home run in each of the first two innings, while going 2-for-3 and having five RBI.

Thirteen different Grizzlies scored a run in the finale, led by senior Paul Winland Jr. touching home plate four times to match his four-hit offensive total. Senior Joe Quelch came off the bench to tally three hits and score three times. Freshman Jacob Bohacek went 3-for-3 and scored three runs in a reserve role on Sunday.

GGC swept the three games of the CAC Baseball Championship, twice defeating Fisher while outscoring the opposition by a 51-1 total.

The Grizzlies successfully stole eight bases to enter the NAIA postseason with 352 steals, the most ever recorded in the history of college baseball across all divisions.

"This was a remarkable feat," said Head Coach Jeremy Sheetinger. "This group decided that they wanted to cement themselves (historically) and that they had the right IQ, talent and work ethic to put themselves in the record book. I love that they keep getting rewarded for their commitment. The NAIA (base stealing) record is special. Saying that this team is the best base-stealing team in the history of college baseball is a huge testament to the players in our dugout."

Meanwhile, pitching was another key asset for the Grizzlies. Junior starting pitcher Austin Testerman struck out eight batters across four scoreless innings. Senior reliver Wyatt Dodgens picked up the victory, improving his record to 8-0 for the season, by tossing a scoreless fifth inning. GGC's pitching staff struck out 15 batters in Sunday's game and had two complete games among the three tournament contests.

"We got quality starts in each game of the tournament and had multiple bullpen options for today. It was an impressive and dominant way for us to pitch this weekend," said Sheetinger.

Senior Jackson Cobb earned the tournament's Most Outstanding Player honor as he had a perfect hitting performance, not being retired once across the team's three victories. The shortstop also anchored a defensive unit that did not commit an error in the tournament.

Joining Cobb on the all-tournament team were senior pitcher Anthony Patterson III, Lee and Seeker.

"We are such a deep and talented team. A lot is expected here at GGC. We expect to win championships. We are excited because we are having fun doing it together," said Cobb.
