The nationally ranked Georgia Gwinnett College baseball team has been selected to be one of the 10 host sites for the upcoming Opening Round of the NAIA national tournament, with play scheduled to begin Monday, May 11, and continuing through Thursday, May 15, at the Grizzly Baseball Complex.

Details about the teams assigned to play in this year's Opening Round Lawrenceville Bracket will be announced when the 48-team field is released on Wednesday, May 6, at 5 p.m.

The Grizzlies are hosting the NAIA postseason event for the fifth consecutive season and 10th time in the last 11 national tournaments.

Host sites were announced by the NAIA national office after consultation with the national baseball tournament selection committee. Selections were based on national geography and facility quality. Six sites will feature five-team double-elimination tournament fields, while the remaining four sites will have four-team formats.

Winners of the Opening Round tournaments will advance to the Avista NAIA World Series, being hosted by Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston, Idaho.

GGC (46-6), ranked No. 3 in the final regular-season NAIA Top 25 poll, won the Continental Athletic Conference Championship on Friday with a 12-1 victory over Westcliff University (California) at the Grizzly Baseball Complex.

The Grizzlies have advanced to the Avista NAIA World Series during each of the last six times when hosting an Opening Round tournament.
