McKenzie Collins hit a go-ahead two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning to rally No. 19-ranked College of Coastal Georgia past the Georgia Gwinnett College softball team 3-2 on Friday afternoon in Brunswick, Georgia.
The Grizzlies (24-21) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the third inning. Senior first baseman
Savannah Jenkins hit a sacrifice fly to right field that plated the first run of the contest. Junior left fielder
Kaitlyn Crumley added a run-scoring single later in the frame.
Coastal Georgia (35-8) got on the scoreboard in the bottom half of the third frame on an RBI single from Rily Andrews.
GGC freshman pitcher
Tatum Helsom got out of a bases-loaded jam in the bottom of the fifth inning. The right-hander struck out Andrews before Mackenzie Southerland popped up to left field to end the rally.
The Grizzlies tried to have a rally of their own in the top of the seventh inning. Junior third baseman
Morgan McQuagge started things with a two-out single and successfully stole second base to get into scoring position as the tying run. However, Coastal Georgia pitcher Rylee Mills got a strikeout to end the game and improve her record to 19-3 for the season.

Sophie Sisk joined McQuagge and Crumley in tallying two hits apiece for the Grizzlies.
