The Georgia Gwinnett College softball team scored a season-high 10 runs twice in sweeping a doubleheader with a pair of 10-0 five-inning victories against Continental Athletic Conference opponent Carolina University (North Carolina) on Saturday afternoon at the Grizzly Softball Complex.
The Grizzlies (14-15) scored multiple runs in three of their four offensive innings during both home contests.
Junior third baseman
Morgan McQuagge went a combined 4-for-4 and scored four runs as the team's No. 2 hitter in the lineup. Meanwhile, sophomore center fielder
Casey Beaver tallied three hits and scored three times from the leadoff spot in the lineup during Saturday's opener.
The hosts jumped out to a 7-0 advantage through two innings of the first game. Senior first baseman
Savannah Jenkins hit an RBI ground out to second base in the opening frame. Senior second baseman
Sara Roussel followed with a double to give the Grizzlies a 2-0 lead. Junior right fielder
Sophie Sisk added another RBI ground out to cap the early offensive production.
One inning later, Beaver tallied an infield RBI single that gave GGC a 5-0 advantage. McQuagge then brought home another run and later scored on a wild pitch.
Jenkins drove in her second run of the contest with a single through the left side of the infield in the fourth inning. Sisk collected an RBI ground out before freshman designated hitter
Sadie McGuinn hit a run-scoring single to third base.

During the nightcap, the Grizzlies plated five runs in the first inning to grab early momentum. Freshman catcher
Brooke Rockhold tallied a run-scoring single to center field, giving the hosts a 4-0 lead. Senior shortstop
Summer Hickson added a sacrifice fly to right field to cap off the strong start.
In the fourth inning, freshman pinch hitter
Reesie Burch lined a run-scoring single to left field before freshman pinch hitter
Graci Kluge hit a sacrifice fly to right field for another run.
GGC recorded 18 hits to score its 20 runs against the Bruins (9-13) in the doubleheader sweep.
Senior pitcher
Kailyn Berry struck out five batters and scattered four hits in tossing the shutout in the opener. The right hander improved to 7-4 on the season. Freshman
Tatum Helsom also allowed just four hits in tossing her second collegiate shutout. She picked up her fifth win of the spring campaign.

"We had good offensive production in a lot of innings. It also was nice to play really well and together during the sweep. The team has made it a goal to be more energetic and they never let up throughout the day. That high energy ruled the day and was part of the outcome," said Head Coach
