Castellow Earns CAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week Award for Second Time

Junior left hander Peyton Castellow had his second game with double-digit strikeouts
Georgia Gwinnett College junior Peyton Castellow has earned the Continental Athletic Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week award for the second time this spring.

The left hander was outstanding across two appearances last week for the No. 2-ranked Grizzlies.

Castellow struck out 10 batters and allowed three hits in five scoreless innings last Monday against Indiana Tech, a team receiving votes in the NAIA Top 25 poll. The Thurmont, Maryland, native then retired all three batters he faced in a scoreless one-inning bullpen performance against Montreat College (North Carolina), another receiving votes team last Friday.

His 10 strikeouts were the second time this season that he has had double-digit strikeouts in a game this season.

Castellow has a 2-0 record and 3.34 earned run average this season. He leads the pitching staff with 39 strikeouts across 29.2 innings. The junior has held opposing hitters to a .269 batting average.

Three GGC pitchers have earned the CAC Pitcher of the Week award this season, with Castellow winning it twice. The team's pitching staff ranks eighth nationally in the NAIA with a collective 3.28 ERA.

Georgia Gwinnett College (24-2) is scheduled to host Freed-Hardeman University (Tennessee) in a three-game series starting on Friday, March 20, at the Grizzly Baseball Complex, starting at 5 p.m.
