Castellow’s Gem Leads Baseball to Collect Two Saturday Wins

The No. 2-ranked Georgia Gwinnett College baseball team remained undefeated on the 2026 season with a pair of victories over Crowley's Ridge College (Arkansas), 18-5, and Point University (Georgia), 4-0, on Saturday at the Grizzly Baseball Complex.

Junior left hander Peyton Castellow tossed 13 strikeouts and allowed just three hits across seven strong innings against Point as the Grizzlies (11-0) recorded their first shutout of the season and Castellow's first win this spring.

Junior Peyton Watts gave the hosts a 1-0 lead in the third inning against Point (7-5) with a sacrifice fly to left field.

A few innings later, junior Payton Fort collected an RBI double to score classmate Jackson Legg.

The Grizzlies added two insurance runs in the eighth inning. Watts lined a run-scoring single to left field before senior Wilbert Espinal hit an RBI double to extend the margin to 4-0.

Senior relievers Carson Judd and Shane Anderson each tossed a scoreless inning as GGC won four games for the second straight weekend.

Junior Jay O'Neill began the productive third inning with an infield RBI single. Senior Grant Pohlman added a sacrifice fly before Legg hit a triple to right-center field.

One inning later, Legg once again recorded an RBI triple to plate the team's 10th run of the contest. Watts and Espinal also provided run-scoring base hits for the Grizzlies.

Coach's Corner
"You could see snippets of this coming (for Peyton Castellow) with his strong outings against Mobile and Bryan. However, this was his best outing by far of this season. Point is a quality opponent and the game had a postseason feel to it, with both starting pitchers being dialed in. It was awesome to see our players finding another gear and more energy when coming into the fourth game of a weekend," said Head Coach Tommy Goodale.

Turning Point
Junior Peyton Castellow delivered the best pitching performance of the young season, striking out 13 batters and scattering three hits across seven scoreless innings against Point. His outing allowed the Grizzlies' offense to slowly separate from the Skyhawks. They pushed across a run in the fifth inning and added two key insurance runs in the eighth inning.
