Women’s Soccer Dominates Point in 5-0 Victory

Five different players scored goals as the No. 19-ranked Georgia Gwinnett College women's soccer team earned a commanding 5-0 win against Point University (Georgia) on Monday night at the Grizzly Soccer Complex.

The Grizzlies (5-3-1) controlled the pace throughout the match, outshooting Point by a 23-1 margin and holding a 15-1 edge in shots on goal to remain unbeaten across the team's last four home matches.

The hosts scored twice in the first half. Sophomore Gabby Stone opened the scoring in the 16th minute with her first goal of the season, drilling a shot from outside the box into the top right corner after receiving a pass from freshman Hannah Lorenz.

Freshman Kendra Delgado added to the lead in the 30th minute, capitalizing on a rebound to score her second career goal.

The strong offensive performance continued into the second half, producing three more goals.

Senior Natalie Maguire scored her team-tying fourth goal of the season in the 54th minute off an assist from freshman Alliyah Rosales. Senior Samara Dullabh found the back of the net during the 66th minute before junior Rikke Steenhold capped the night with a 77th-minute strike.

Goalkeepers Rirei Sasaki, a junior, and Svenja Hoppe, a freshman, combined for the shutout. They faced just one shot on goal. GGC also earned nine corner kicks while limiting the Skyhawks to none across the 90 minutes of action.

Coach's Corner
"We played really well, especially in the second half, because they gave us a lot of space to work with. I want to play pretty and good soccer and scoring goals while doing it. Our touches were cleaner and we moved the ball much better in the second half," said Head Coach Dr. Mike Giuliano.
