For the second consecutive day, the No. 2-seeded Georgia Gwinnett College women's tennis team collected a 4-0 sweep over an opponent at the 2025 NAIA National Championship tournament at the Mobile Tennis Center in Mobile, Alabama.
On Thursday, the decisive victory came against No. 7 seed Middle Georgia State University. That advances the Grizzlies into the semifinal round of this year's tournament.
GGC (14-2) quickly captured the doubles point, winning 12 of the 15 games across matches on the No. 1 and No. 3 courts. The senior duo of
Isid Hernandez and
Justine Lespes cruised to a 6-1 triumph at the top of the lineup. Then, freshmen
Elizabet Verizova and
MaryLove Edwards gave the team a 1-0 dual match advantage with a dominant 6-2 triumph.
The eight-time defending national champions continued riding the positive momentum into singles, with Verizova winning all 12 games against Liza Hinrichs on the No. 6 court for GGC's second point of the match.
Another point came when Lespes won by identical 6-1 set scores against Marina Prieto on the No. 1 court.

Hernandez secured the match-clinching fourth point behind a 7-5, 6-0 victory on the No. 5 court against Yana Prihach.
GGC will now face No. 3 seed Lindsey Wilson College (Kentucky) in the semifinal round on Friday, May 16, starting at 10 a.m.
Coach's Corner

We executed doubles extremely well and this was a big focus for us leading into this week. We are really starting to get good momentum going into the semis round.
