The No. 9-ranked Georgia Gwinnett College softball team recorded its 40th win of the season while concluding the regular season with a sweep of Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (Georgia) by 3-1 and 5-0 scores in a road doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon in Tifton, Georgia.
Freshman
Casey Beaver delivered a clutch go-ahead single that scored two runs with one out in the top of the ninth inning to provide the difference in the first game.
Then, GGC (40-8) scored two runs in the sixth and seventh innings of the second game of the day.
In the first game's extra-inning situation, senior
Angelica Gallegos executed a sacrifice bunt to advance senior
Haley Robinson to third base. Junior
Sara Roussel followed with an infield single and later stole second base to set up Beaver's key ninth inning at-bat.
The outfielder hit a ground ball up the middle to give the visitors a 3-1 lead that withstood a challenge from the Fillies in the bottom of the frame.

Senior pitcher
Annalise Jarvis stranded the potential game-tying run at first base by recording consecutive strikeouts to end the contest.
The Grizzlies took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning on an RBI fielder's choice by junior
Savannah Jenkins.
ABAC (12-26) answered on a sacrifice fly from Carter Gore in the fourth inning.
In the second contest, senior
Jane Hoover hit a sacrifice fly to right field to bring home sophomore
Sophie Sisk in the top of the third inning. The team maintained the one-run advantage until the late offensive surge.
Gallegos scored on a wild pitch in the sixth inning before sophomore
Morgan McQuagge hit an RBI ground out to second base that extended the team's lead to 3-0. Gallegos collected a run-scoring single one inning later before freshman
Taylor Cohron added an RBI ground out to third base.
Jarvis tossed her 10th shutout of the season, striking out six batters to improve to 20-2 on the season. Her 19th victory came in the relief effort earlier in the day.
Gallegos led the offensive charge, going 3-for-4 on the day. She tallied two hits during the second contest.
Georgia Gwinnett College ended the regular season on a 13-game winning streak. The team's 40 victories are the most entering postseason play since the 2018 season.

Coach's Corner
"This is a complete team that doesn't take any games off. Forty wins during the regular season is something we haven't accomplished in a while. Today, our pitching staff kept us in the game, and we were able to execute in the big moments," said Head Coach
Kat Ihlenburg.
Â
Turning Point
After not scoring in the eighth inning, the Grizzlies made sure not to waste the extra-inning scoring opportunity with the international tiebreaker in the top of the ninth frame. Senior
Haley Robinson began things on second base and advanced to third base on a sacrifice bunt by classmate
Angelica Gallegos. A few batters later, freshman
Casey Beaver delivered a single for the go-ahead run and a key insurance run.
