The No. 8-ranked Georgia Gwinnett College softball team completed a perfect Continental Athletic Conference Classic sweep with a pair of Saturday triumphs at Tyger River Park in Duncan, South Carolina. The Grizzlies opened the day defeating Florida National University 3-1 before scoring a 10-1 triumph against Haskell Indian Nations University (Kansas).
GGC (26-5) went 4-0 during the weekend, outscoring the four opponents by a 36-2 margin.
All three of the team's runs in Saturday's opener were scored in the sixth inning. Senior
Makenna Talcott drew a bases-loaded walk with two outs to give the Grizzlies a 1-0 advantage. Junior
Savannah Jenkins followed with a pinch-hit single to plate two more runs.
Florida National (16-19) answered with a run on a sacrifice fly in the bottom half of the same inning. The Conquistadors brought the potential game-tying run to the plate in the bottom of the seventh inning, but senior
Annalise Jarvis secured the victory by getting the opposing batter to pop up to senior shortstop
Haley Robinson.
In the second game, the Grizzlies used a seven-run third inning to grab an 8-1 advantage. Junior
Sara Roussel hit a run-scoring single to give the team the lead after trailing 1-0 after the top of the first inning. Sophomore
Sophie Sisk followed with an RBI single to right field. Junior
Summer Hickson registered a double to center field that scored a pair of runs, giving the Grizzlies a commanding 7-1 lead.

One inning later, Jenkins hit an RBI ground out to shortstop before freshman
Bailey Bowen hit an RBI double to plate GGC's 10th run of the contest.
Jarvis struck out seven batters to earn the complete-game victory against Florida National. The right hander improved to 13-1 on the season and had a scoreless streak of 32.1 innings end when Florida National scored a run in the sixth inning.
Senior
Kailynn James recorded nine strikeouts and scattered four hits against Haskell Indian Nations to improve her record to 8-2 this spring.
Freshman
Casey Beaver paced GGC's balanced offensive attack for the day by going 5-for-7 at the plate, with a 3-for-3 performance coming in Saturday's finale. Talcott also tallied three hits against Haskell Indian Nations. Sisk registered multiple hits and scored twice in the contest.

Coach's Corner
"We once again made some good adjustments in the Florida National game, especially when we got runners on base in the sixth inning. Savannah has been a great pinch hitter for us. It was a situation that we felt good about making that move at that time. The team did a good job of asserting ourselves against CAC teams this weekend," said Head Coach
Kat Ihlenburg.

Turning Point
The Grizzlies scored three runs – all with two outs – in the sixth inning of Saturday's first contest against Florida National. An infield single was followed by a one-out walk to exert offensive pressure on the Conquistadors. FNU proceeded to commit a defensive error to load the bases, with just one out in the inning. Following a fielder's choice that produced the second out, senior
Makenna Talcott drew another walk to plate the first run of the contest. Then, junior
Savannah Jenkins came off the bench to drive in a pair of runs with a single through the left side of the infield.
