The No. 6-ranked Georgia Gwinnett College softball team tallied 34 hits to score 27 runs in sweeping a road doubleheader against Oakwood University by 17-4 and 10-0 scores on Tuesday afternoon in Huntsville, Alabama.
The Grizzlies (18-5) set season game-high marks for hits (20) and runs scored (17) in the opener.
Six players had multiple-hit efforts, including three hits each from senior
Makenna Talcott, sophomore
Sophie Sisk and freshman
Casey Beaver. The team put 10 runs on the scoreboard in the fourth inning to seize control of the first contest.
Junior
Sara Roussel brought home a pair of runs with a single to left-center field during the productive inning. Beaver followed with an RBI double before Sisk tallied a run-scoring single up the middle to give GGC a 13-2 lead.
Earlier, senior
Jane Hoover gave the visitors a 3-2 lead in the top of third inning with an infield RBI single. Sophomore
Morgan McQuagge plated two runs with a single to right field.
Junior
Summer Hickson drove in three runs as part of a 2-for-4 performance at the plate. Senior
Angelica Gallegos went 2-for-3, with two RBI.
Freshman pitcher
Isabelle Teems improved to 3-0 on the season with her first collegiate complete-game performance inside the circle. She scattered five hits and struck out a pair of batters.

In the second game, Hoover connected on a two-run home run – her first of the season – in the third inning as GGC took a 5-0 lead.
Robinson lined a two-run double to left field as part of a three-run second inning.
GGC once again was productive in the fourth inning, tallying four runs. Roussel plated two runs with a single to right field, Talcott added an infield RBI single, and Beaver smashed a ground-rule RBI double to score the team's 10th run of the contest.
Gallegos led the Grizzlies' 14-hit offensive attack with a 3-for-3 performance at the plate. Hoover went 2-for-3 to account for two RBI and two runs scored. Beaver registered two hits, while Talcott and Robinson also added multiple-hit performances.
Senior pitcher
Annalise Jarvis struck out seven batters and picked up her 10th win of the season with a one-hit shutout.
