Georgia Gwinnett College senior pitcher
Annalise Jarvis matched her own single game strikeout record while breaking the program's career strikeout mark in the Grizzlies' doubleheader sweep against Reinhardt University (Georgia) on Tuesday afternoon at the Grizzly Softball Complex.
Jarvis struck out 17 batters to lead GGC (11-2) to a 3-0 victory in the opener. Then, clutch hitting and opportunistic baserunning helped the team score six runs in the sixth inning to rally past the Eagles 7-2 in the nightcap.
This was the fourth time that the right hander has recorded 17 strikeouts during her All-American career. Along the way, that game total pushed her past Alexa Good's career record of 606 strikeouts. Jarvis now has 611 strikeouts inside the circle for GGC.
Jarvis improved her record to 6-1 this spring.

Offensively, sophomore
Sophie Sisk lined a two-run double to the right-center field gap in the third inning to give the hosts a 3-0 lead. Classmate
Morgan McQuagge had opened the scoring one inning earlier following a defensive throwing error.
Reinhardt (3-3) had a 2-1 lead with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning in the nightcap. A double by Kyra Lightner brought home the visitors' two runs in the top of the fourth inning.
However, GGC responded by tying the contest, at 2-2, in the sixth inning with an infield run-scoring pop fly infield single by junior
Summer Hickson – igniting a six-run frame. Three consecutive defensive errors by the Eagles allowed four additional runs to score and give the hosts a 6-2 advantage.
An RBI double by junior
Savannah Jenkins scored Sisk later in the decisive sixth inning.
Senior reliever
Kailynn James tossed 2.1 scoreless innings and struck out four batters in improving her record to 3-1 on the season. Freshman
Isabelle Teems recorded two strikeouts in 3.2 innings during the starting assignment.

Coach's Corner
"It was just a matter of time that Annalise would break the career strikeout record. She is a dominant player who loves this game and this team. I'm just so honored to coach her. We didn't have our best offensive execution in the second game but came through in the sixth inning after creating opportunities. We practice taking advantage of situations so it's no accident when it happens. It just takes a focus on executing in those situations. This team is learning that part of the process," said Head CoachÂ
Kat Ihlenburg.

Turning Point
The Grizzlies took advantage of sloppy defensive play by Reinhardt in the bottom of the sixth inning to plate six runs and sweep Tuesday's doubleheader. Trailing 2-1 with two outs, junior
Summer Hickson hit an infield pop fly that fell between the pitcher and two middle infielders to score the tying run. Then, three consecutive errors allowed four additional runs to score in the frame.
