The Georgia Gwinnett College softball team lost its second straight game at the NAIA World Series in walk-off fashion, falling 1-0 in eight innings to the University of the Cumberlands (Kentucky) on Friday morning in Columbus, Georgia, to end the 2024 season with a 32-17 record.
Amber Atkins hit a run-scoring single up the middle with one out in the bottom of the eighth inning to score Jade Gainer with the winning run.
Cumberlands (48-8) outhit the Grizzlies 8-2 and loaded the bases in the third and fifth innings. However, GGC junior pitcher
Annalise Jarvis responded to end those threats, both occasions after getting Atkins out at the plate. In the third inning, Atkins had a fly out to center field before she grounded out to second base to end the fifth frame.

Jarvis concluded the 2024 season with a 19-7 record, including six saves, and 241 strikeouts.

Cumberlands' Talli Burgess came out of the bullpen in the fourth inning and improved her record to 15-0 on the season after tossing five scoreless innings. She struck out the side in the top of the eighth inning.
Georgia Gwinnett College advanced to the NAIA World Series for the fourth time in program history in 2024.
