Men’s Tennis Blanks Reinhardt to Gain NAIA Semifinal Berth

The Georgia Gwinnett College men's tennis team has advanced to the semifinal round of the 2024 NAIA National Championship tournament after defeating No. 9 seed Reinhardt University (Georgia) 4-0 on Thursday morning at the Mobile Tennis Center in Mobile, Alabama.

The Grizzlies have swept to victories in both of their matches so far in the tournament.

GGC (16-0), the defending national champions and top seed, once again used strong doubles play to gain early momentum. The NAIA's top-ranked doubles team of senior Alex Gurmendi and sophomore Santiago Villarruel won all six games on the No. 1 court. Then, senior Mihailo Radosavljevic and sophomore Aleksandr Kalinin registered their second win of the tournament, collecting a 6-4 triumph on the No. 2 court.

The advantage in the match grew to 2-0 as Radosavljevic won in straight sets on the No. 6 singles court by 6-4, 6-0 scores.

Sophomore Luis Francisco Sampedro collected the Grizzlies' third point of the match with a 6-0, 6-2 victory against Pierson Moss on the No. 4 court. Gurmendi then secured the semifinal spot with a straight-set triumph by 6-2, 6-4 scores at the top of the singles lineup.

The Grizzlies stand 38-0 all-time in NAIA postseason play and have won nine consecutive national titles.
