The No. 3-ranked Georgia Gwinnett College softball team got back to its winning ways in a pair of Senior Day shutout victories, by 2-0 and 5-0 scores, against Tennessee Wesleyan University on Saturday afternoon at the Grizzly Softball Complex.
Junior pitchers
Kailyn Berry and
Annalise Jarvis each went the distance inside the circle to keep the Bulldogs (7-6) off the scoreboard in both games. Berry scattered three hits and struck out five batters for her first shutout of the season. Jarvis then had 11 strikeouts to complete the doubleheader sweep.
"Kailyn has pitched really well in her last two outings. The Middle Georgia State game was phenomenal (an unearned run resulted in a 1-0 loss on Tuesday). When she concentrates on one pitch at a time she's very, very good inside the circle," said Head Coach
Kat Ihlenburg, whose team improved to 13-1 at home, including eight straight victories at the Grizzly Softball Complex.
The Grizzlies (18-7) struck for two runs on a single by junior
Makenna Talcott in the fourth inning of Saturday's first contest. The base hit to center field brought home juniors
Jane Hoover and
Haley Robinson.

Senior right fielder
Kendall Parks recorded six putouts as Berry limited Tennessee Wesleyan to soft contact batting efforts across the seven-inning pitching performance.
GGC plated a pair of unearned runs in the third inning of the nightcap after TWU pitcher Bailee Phillips dropped a pop up inside the circle with two outs. The defensive miscue allowed senior
Logan Oller to score. Robinson followed with an RBI single up the middle that brought home senior
Kloey Goins.
A few innings later, the hosts added three insurance runs as freshman
Angelina del Pozo hit an infield run-scoring single to plate junior
Lindzie Owen. A passed ball allowed freshman
Sophie Sisk to score from third base during the fifth inning. Then, del Pozo scored on a sacrifice fly by Robinson to extend the lead to 5-0.
Jarvis picked up her ninth win of the season and tossed her fifth shutout this spring.
Prior to the contests the program honored the senior outfield trio of Goins, Oller and Parks for their contributions over the past four seasons.

"It is nice to come back to the friendly confines of the Grizzly Softball Complex and earn two hard-fought victories. We trust our process. It was nice to see different pieces come through," said Head Coach
Kat Ihlenburg.
