The NAIA's top-ranked Georgia Gwinnett College men's tennis team swept all six singles matches to defeat NCAA Division III Emory University (Georgia) by a 6-1 score Monday afternoon at the GGC Tennis Facility.
The match featured this year's Intercollegiate Tennis Association indoor national champions from NAIA and Division III collegiate ranks.
Emory (6-1) swept the three doubles matches as the nation's No. 2-ranked duo of Nolan Shah and Dean Kamenev clinched the point with a 6-3 victory on the No. 2 court.
GGC (11-0) then grabbed momentum in the match as senior
Mihailo Radosavljevic and sophomore
Santiago Villarruel captured 12 of the 13 games on the No. 6 and No. 5 singles courts, respectively.

Senior
Aleksa Ciric, the No. 2-ranked NAIA singles player, gave the hosts a 3-1 lead with a 6-1, 6-4 win on the No. 2 court against Shah, the Division III No. 21-ranked player.
No. 10-ranked
Alex Gurmendi also won a singles match in straight sets against a ranked player, defeating Kamenev, the No. 2 ranked player in Division III. The GGC senior improved to 10-1 this spring, with all of the matches at No. 1 singles.
Other victories were recorded by sophomore
Luis Francisco Sampedro with a 6-4, 6-2 victory on the No. 4 court and senior
Charly Zick winning 6-1, 7-6 (4) at No. 3 singles.
"We started off slow today and that hurt us in doubles. We can't let that happen again. That was a good learning moment for us. It was all about how we reacted. We came out and finished strong with intensity and purpose and executed in every singles match. I'm proud of how we finished today's match," said Head Coach
Hannah Keeling.
Georgia Gwinnett College is scheduled to host McPherson College (Kansas) on Friday, March 15, at the GGC Tennis Facility, starting at 1 p.m.
